If you own a Samsung smartphone, you might have wondered how to unlock Samsung phone if you someday forget your phone pin or pattern. It’s also possible that you’re already in that situation and are looking for a solution. Samsung phones are one of the most popular choices for smartphone users worldwide. Consequently, a lot of people tend to find themselves in a tricky situation where they’re unable to unlock their phones after forgetting their unlock code.

Fortunately, there are two ways you can access your phone in such a scenario. One of the methods is much more invasive than the other. Let’s look at the two methods you can use to unlock your Samsung phone:

How to Unlock Samsung Phone using Find My Mobile

All Samsung devices come with the Samsung Find My Mobile feature which is primarily used to locate a lost or stolen phone. But you can also use it to unlock your phone in case you ever forget your device password or pattern and are locked out of your phone.

There is one catch though: Samsung Find My Mobile should already be configured on your phone before you forget your password. Plus, Remote unlock should be enabled in Find My Mobile settings. Only then you can use the Find My Mobile website to unlock your phone. With that out of the way, let’s look at the steps to follow for this method:

  1. Visit https://findmymobile.samsung.com on your browser and sign in with your Samsung account.
  2. You will be able to see all the devices registered under your Samsung account on the right side of the screen. Select the device you want to unlock.
  3. Click on Unlock and enter your Samsung account password in the pop-up window that appears.

The pop-up window will close and your phone will be unlocked.

How to unlock Samsung phone using Factory Reset

If by chance, you did not configure Samsung Find My Mobile earlier, then the only option left with you is to factory reset your phone. Yes, it’s an extreme step and you will not be able to recover any of your data after this process, but at least you’ll have an unlocked phone.

To be safe, always make it a point to backup your data as frequently as possible to the cloud.

Let’s go over the steps to factory reset your Samsung phone:

  1. Open Google Find My Device on your browser and sign in to your Google account.
  2. Select the device you want to perform the factory reset on. Make sure you’re signed in with the Google account your phone is registered with.
  3. Now select Erase Device and click on Erase once the pop-up warning appears.

Wrapping Up

Getting locked out of your phone is never a good place to be in but there are a few things you can do to ensure the way back is as painless as possible. Ensure you have Samsung Find My Mobile configured earlier. You can activate automatic backups and configure Google Find My Device as well to keep your options open if you ever forget your unlock code.
